Tenant Selection
Residence is open to persons 62 years of age or older, mobility-impaired persons, and families of those who qualify. All individuals must meet the guidelines set forth by the Federal Register and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 202 and Section 8. HUD ruled on March 29, 2002, that those individuals with incomes below 30% of the area median income must be targeted for at least 40% of admissions within a given year.
A prospective tenant completes the application form, and returns it to the office, where it is dated, stamped and placed on a waiting list. The applicant must indicate on the application what type of apartment they are requesting and then the application is placed on the appropriate waiting list. An applicant can only hold a place on one waiting list. The applicant will be sent a letter to show receipt of the application, and placement on the waiting list.
It is the applicant's responsibility to notify the office of any change in address or telephone number after your name has been placed on the waiting list. If you cannot be located at the address or telephone number in our file, your name will be removed from the waiting list.
The complete Tenant Selection Plan is available in our office for anyone wishing to see it.
